Our 11 academic departments provide students and faculty unmatched opportunity for multi-disciplinary study and research. Ten departments offer both graduate and undergraduate degrees, and one offers graduate degrees only.

- Department of Chemical Engineering CHE focuses on the physical and chemical changes of matter that produce a product or result useful to humankind.
- Department of Civil & Coastal Engineering CCE studies the design and construction of bridges, sanitary systems, highways and other structures.
- Department of Computer & Information Science & Engineering CISE is concerned with the theory, design, development and application of computer systems and information-processing techniques.
- Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering ECE studies the transmission and use of electrical energy and intelligence.
- Department of Environmental Engineering Sciences EES looks for ways to protect and preserve human health and the health of the environment.
- Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering ISE researches the analytical and practical aspects of product and process design, plant operation, quality control, facilities planning, work system analysis and evaluation, and economic analysis of operational systems.
- Department of Materials Science & Engineering MSE deals with the scientific and engineering aspects of the structure, properties, synthesis/processing/manufacturing, and application of materials.
- Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering MAE studies motion and energy. It also solves problems surrounding the development, design and operation of aircraft and spacecraft.
- Department of Nuclear & Radiological Engineering NRE analyzes the release, control and safe utilization of nuclear energy and atomic and nuclear radiation for human benefit.
